Watch those Tires!

Improper tire inflation is one of the leading causes for poor gas mileage. Even though this is common knowledge, it often slips our mind to check.

Get yourself in the habit of checking your tire pressure on a regular basis. If you keep a pressure gauge handy in your vehicle, bring it with you when you go to fill up the gas tank.

Not only is this a good reminder of why you're checking the pressure, it also commits you to a sort of schedule that's not too hard to remember.

Another important tip that will save you money in the short run and help save the planet in the long run.

The "Gotcha" Green Game

During the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives, working toward a greener environment can seem like one more burden. However, if you’re serious about living responsibly and contributing to a better environment, there are plenty of fun things you can do that will not only make the world a greener place, but will reduce the strain on your pocketbook.

Here’s this month’s solution to greener living for you and your family:

The “Gotcha!” green game

In almost every home, lights are left on when no one is in the room or appliances are left running when not in use. You can save money and help the environment with this simple game.

One member of the family can be responsible for catching everyone else being green. Here’s how it works: When the rest of the family does things like turning off the television when no one is watching, powering down an unattended PC, or turning off a light in a room that no one is using, the appointed member of the family is responsible for catching the responsible party in the act by saying “Gotcha being green!” The “Catcher” can keep a weekly log of the activity. At the end of the week, whichever family member is caught the most times can receive a special treat like a trip to the park or getting to choose the family meal for a night. Family members can take turns being the person responsible for catching the others practicing green behaviors.

This amusing activity can be a blast for the whole family! At the same time, you’ll save money and know that you’re doing your part to make our world a better place.

Use florusent bulbs

Using the modern, low-wattage floruscent bulbs can make a big difference in your energy bill and help the community to be a little greener in the process!

Bulbs are long-lasting and affordable. You can purchase them at any department store or places like Wal-Mart.

By doing this, you can save yourself cash during these tough economic times and feel good about doing your part to make the enviornment safer!

Anyone can get greener

Almost everyone I know could do better at being green. Household waste is filling up landfills. People should never throw away plastics, it harms the enviornment. You can do your part by spreading the word too.  Recycle all of your plastic, but spread the word. Many people do not realize that plastic does not decompose and can be hazardous to the soil. Tell your friends and neighbours about recycling plastic. If everybody recycled more plastic, our landfills would be less full. It's a small step, but an important one. It's easy. Anyone can get greener!
